Core Services

Core services are defined as operations where all applicable universities are involved.

  1. Undergraduate (formerly 101 and 105 Divisions)
  2. Teacher Education Application Service (TEAS)
  3. Ontario Law School Application Service (OLSAS)
  4. Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS)
  5. Ontario Rehabilitation Sciences Programs Application Service (ORPAS)
  6. Ontario Universities’ Electronic Transcript System (OUETS)
  7. Ontario Universities’ Info (OUInfo)
  8. Ontario Universities’ Fair (OUF)
  9. Ontario Universities’ Regional Fairs (OURF)

Contract Services

Contract services are defined as specialized operations requested by individual universities.

Development, maintenance and execution of these services must be completed on a full cost-recovery basis and must not be allowed to affect the OUAC’s core services mandate:

  1. Graduate Studies Applications (8)
    • Brock, Guelph, Laurentian, Ontario Tech, Ottawa, Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson), Trent and Wilfrid Laurier
  2. Undergraduate (12 university contracts with 36 separate applications)
    • Guelph: Re-admission, internal transfer, international, letter of permission/transfer
    • Lakehead: Undergraduate (including part-time, international, re-admission, internal transfer)
    • Laurentian: Part-time
    • McMaster: Second degree, re-admission
    • Nipissing: Graduate Studies, letter of permission, new admission, re-admission, second degree, special student
    • Toronto: Part-time, internal, non-degree, international
    • Toronto Met: Part-time (including special admission, re-admission, internal transfer)
    • Trent: Letter of permission/special student, re-admission, international
    • Waterloo: Degree, non-degree, post-degree and social work, exchange and study abroad, letter of permission, international, pharmacy, optometry, international agreements
    • Western: Part-time, dentistry
    • Wilfrid Laurier: Part-time, winter term
    • Windsor: Part-time, international

Contract Services – Other

These services are operated under annually renewed contracts or memoranda of understanding or data sharing agreements.

  1. OCAS file matching for COU
  2. Transfer of 101 applicant grades to designated out-of-province universities
  3. Electronic collection of Quebec CEGEP and British Columbia secondary school grades/transcripts for 105 applicants to Ontario universities
  4. Electronic receipt via OCAS of Ontario secondary school grades/transcripts for 105 applicants to Ontario universities
  5. Electronic receipt of transcripts from Ontario universities, and subsequent delivery to:
    • the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for applicants to OCT
    • the Qualifications Evaluation Council of Ontario (QECO) for applicants to QECO
  6. Electronic receipt via EducationPlannerBC of Douglas College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University transcripts for applicants to Ontario universities
  7. Support for calculating grade point averages for faculties of education as requested under special contract
  8. Analysis and transfer of aggregated data and reports to COU, including for such purposes as CUDO
  9. Data and research services for third-party researchers
  10. With approval from the applicant, transfer information to OSAP to facilitate the completion of the applicant’s OSAP application

Other Miscellaneous Data and Research Services

The OUAC will perform miscellaneous services for university and government researchers on a cost-recovery basis, when time and privacy legislation permits, and the request is in keeping with university–COU values and missions.
